International Women’s Day is a moment to celebrate the progress we’ve made, but it’s also a powerful opportunity to pass the torch. At Kubik, we are lucky to be surrounded by brilliant women across the globe who bring diverse perspectives to every project we touch. In honor of this year’s theme, we sat down with team members from Toronto to Amsterdam to ask one simple question: What advice would you give to a woman starting her career today?
1. My 'motto' has always been know your worth!
Of course, it’s human nature to second guess and feel scared; but if we remember who we are, what we want to achieve & who we want to be, our confidence will shine through. Ask questions (because there are never dumb ones) and be a sponge of your surroundings; immerse yourself in the brilliance around you that will allow you to learn.
Meaghan Trueland Account Director – Toronto, Canada
2. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone... or even to change your career path completely.
If something no longer feels right, give yourself permission to start over. Spending a year or two learning something new is nothing compared to the length of your whole life!
Izabella Talaga Designer – Poznań, Poland
3. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be to truly know your value, even on days you question it.
Confidence grows over time through experience, mistakes, and growth. Stay humble enough to keep learning, but brave enough to speak up for yourself. You don’t have to have everything figured out – just keep showing up, growing, and trusting that you belong.
Deanna Gomes Project Manager – Atlanta, Georgia
4. Don't be afraid to ask questions, know your strengths, and be yourself.
Confidence in the professional world doesn’t come from having all the answers, it comes from being curious, self-aware, and authentic.
Alayna Wurzbacher Account Manager – Baltimore, Maryland
5. My biggest tip is to be proactive with your path.
Don’t wait for the right door to open – build it through networking and organizations like the World Experience Organization. Never be afraid to hit ‘connect’ on Linkedin or reach out directly. When you take the initiative to bridge the gap, you’ll be surprised at how many doors open in return.
Fabiën Vlems Project Manager – Amsterdam, the Netherlands
6. I'd talk about the importance of building your network, making a wide range of industry connections + seeking out mentorship.
There is a wealth of knowledge out there, tapping into it will help build confidence to be able to tackle new opportunities and can even take you on a path to growth in areas you never thought you’d venture into!
Jennifer Good Director of Project Management – Toronto, Canada
Whether you are at the beginning of your journey or a seasoned leader looking for a fresh perspective, the recurring theme here is clear: you don’t need to be fearless to succeed, you just need to be yourself. This International Women’s Day, we invite you to take one piece of this advice: reach out to a mentor, ask that ‘silly’ question, or step into a space that makes you nervous… and use it to build your own door. What piece of advice would you add to this list? Let us know in the comments.
Happy International Women's Day!
