Last week the doors opened to the public to the new Observatory Entrance, Grand Lobby, and Staircase of the iconic Empire State Building (ESB) in New York City. kubik maltbie, along with a cross-disciplinary, best-in-class team, brought this first phase of the re-development project to life. The project is part of an ambitious decade long Empire State Re-Building project with the first phase to be completed by the end of 2019.

kubik maltbie also created lightboxes featuring images that celebrate the ESB’s unmistakable character and landmark status in New York. In addition, the kubik maltbie team was also responsible for designing the building model, podium, cases, and switch for the lighting ceremony area.
Craftsmen and engineers at the New Jersey fabrication facility conducted production reviews throughout the fabrication phase of the project, ensuring mock-ups were produced for review during the development phase, along with samples and material finishes for each of the components, contributing overall success of the phase-one renovation.
