Kubik Storytellers Series: Katie Nance

Behind every massive build and tight deadline is an incredible team. Get to know the unique faces, stories, and collective ambition that power Kubik’s client successes every single day.

To kick off the return of our Kubik Storytellers Series, we’re excited to introduce one of our Account Managers, Katie Nance, who joined the team in Amsterdam about 6 months ago. Bringing nine years of powerhouse experience from the London advertising scene, Katie has always been drawn to the magic of the production phase and loves nothing more than getting stuck into the fast-paced world of live events and experiential marketing. When the opportunity at Kubik came along, her reaction was an immediate —Oooh, that sounds like a bit of me—and, driven by that ambition, she made the leap across the North Sea without a single regret. That exact kind of energy and expertise is what makes Kubik the special place it is today.

Can you tell us a bit more about yourself?

Katie: I moved over to Amsterdam from London about six months ago. I studied Spanish at university and lived abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico and Seville, Spain. I’m a massive F1 fan, a committed foodie, and an avid traveler and have been on a few solo adventures. My dream Saturday is something active in the morning, a slow coffee, and then an afternoon spent in a pub garden, I am British, after all.

How would you describe Kubik to someone who has never heard of it?

"An experience powerhouse"

Katie: From the intial design concept, through production, to the moment it all goes up onsite, Kubik takes a big idea and transforms it into a space people genuinely want to explore.

What is one piece of advice you would give yourself when first starting at Kubik?

Katie: Ask questions. All of them. Never presume you know something, and if you have even a wiggle of doubt, just say it out loud. The last place you want to have that lightbulb moment is standing on the booth thinking, ‘Damn, I really wish I’d just checked that.’.

Which project, during your time at Kubik, has had the greatest impact on you so far?

Katie: Since I haven’t been here long, it feels a bit early to crown a winner, but I’m already lucky to be working on some incredibly exciting projects. I recently wrapped up two back to back shows in Rotterdam and Liverpool for Philips, and it turns out the cliché is true,  you really do learn on the job. I came away more knowledgeable, slightly more sleep deprived, and with a renewed sense of motivation after seeing how hard everyone grafts to get a booth looking its absolute best under some very tight deadlines.

If you could have just one meal and one drink forever, what would it be?

Katie: The best and hardest question. My final meal would have to be tacos, but only from a proper Mexican street stand with all the spicy toppings. To drink it’s a genuine tie between a spicy marg with Tajin (if you know you know!) and a really good IPA. Please don’t make me choose!
