We Branched Out with TD

Project Overview.

In the heart of Toronto’s Union Station—the busiest transit hub in Canada—TD Bank set out to redefine what banking in motion could look like. The goal was to create a fully functioning retail branch that would stop commuters in their tracks and deliver on the brand promise: Ready for you.

Kubik was tasked with developing and fabricating this immersive pop-up environment—a complex, self-supporting kiosk that could operate securely and seamlessly in a historic venue where no walls, ceilings, or floors could be disturbed.

Experience & Design Contribution.

The concept blended visual storytelling, innovative engineering, and practical utility into a single high-impact installation:

A Digital Canopy
Floating above the space, an array of large-scale digital screens projected nature-inspired imagery to create an oasis feel in the heart of the station. The canopy was supported by a dramatic “tree”—a structural skeleton anchored by a vertical trunk engineered to act as a ballast for the five-metre cantilevered beam holding the cross-arms and screens.

Secure Operations
Even in an open public concourse, this branch needed to function like any other. Kubik integrated hydraulic riser workstations that emerged from the counters to secure financial transactions, along with concealed wiring routed through internal chases in the “tree” structure.

Customer Refuge & Engagement
Seating areas, free Wi-Fi, and charging stations transformed the kiosk into a comfortable retreat for commuters—a place to recharge devices, or themselves, while waiting for a train.

Integrated Identity
The entire installation was designed to stand out while still respecting Union Station’s historic finishes. Aggressive TD brand cues, color blocking, and logo integration ensured instant recognition from across the concourse.

Immersive Journey.

Travelers were drawn first to the vibrant digital canopy overhead, a welcome burst of nature and light in a bustling urban setting. Beneath the canopy, the branch invited passersby to pause, sit, connect, and explore services. Each element, from the hidden tech to the warmth of the seating zones, was crafted to intersect banking with daily life—no appointment needed.
