Honouring generosity with digital flair that inspires.
Project Overview.
In Engineering 7, a flagship seven-storey, 242,000 sq ft facility in Waterloo, Kubik developed and installed a suite of recognition features spotlighting over 6,000 donors—bringing purpose and aesthetics together in a dynamic academic hub. The atrium showcases an 85-foot digital accent wall supported by a robust CMS, interactive search and email-capture screen, and a paired backlit static wall celebrating Elite Donors.
Experience & Design Contribution.
- Digital Donor Wall: Fabricated entirely in engineered metals, this seamless wall connects to the university’s database. Visitors search names, send emails, or even donate onsite with a single touch—then watch Elite Donors’ names illuminate, merging interactivity with elegance.
- Static & Feature Walls: echoing visual themes from the digital wall, Kubik fabricated MDF-and-urethane “Alumni” and “From the Mud” walls, preserving design continuity.
- Specialty Graphics & Signage: We produced a 10′ × 40′ seamless graphic on clear film for a glass wall, and crafted an outdoor mirrored stainless-steel sign with brushed box letters and halo-lit RGB LEDs.
- Technical Integration: From metal fabrication and finish to database connectivity, UI coordination, and precise audiovisual embedding—we ensured every element worked flawlessly and durably.
Throughout, Kubik coordinated engineers, designers, architects, contractors, and client stakeholders—achieving consistent messaging across interior and exterior – and smoothly integrating custom displays into the architecture.
Immersive Journey.
Visitors entering the atrium are met first by the digital wall’s scale and motion. A quick touch reveals donor stories and recognition, and invites continued support. Elite Donors then shine in a moment of celebration, while adjacent feature walls and graphics anchor the hall in institutional legacy and pride. Whether browsing, pausing, or moving onward, every sequence reinforces Waterloo’s narrative of innovation and community.
