Recognition for Donors

University of Waterloo, Engineering 7, Faculty of Engineering

The main atrium of this signature building features an 85-foot digital accent wall, celebrating donors and the impact of their contributions. The wall incorporates a custom CMS that allows for search functions, updates, and capability to celebrate unique individuals; with a one-touch screen for email capture and onsite donations. A backlit static feature wall recognizes Elite Donors of the institution with static names illuminating when digitally searched. The display overall, strikes a balance between recognizing over 6,000 names with exciting visuals that activate the space that is easily updated without added operational maintenance.

The project included the fabrication and installation of all feature walls, maintaining the same design concept of the “Alumni’ and “From the Mud” walls in MDF and urethane paint, as the digital donor wall created entirely in metal. Bringing the digital donor wall to life required establishing and connecting the university database and the user interface with the hardware systems. Graphic installations throughout the 7-storey, 28,000 square foot building including a challenging 10’x40’ long seamless graphic on clear film for a glass wall, and the outdoor sign fabricated in mirrored stainless-steel panels with box letters in brushed stainless steel, halo lit with RGB led lights.

kubik adeptly coordinated teams of engineers, architects, designers and client contacts, ensuring a congruous integration of the interior and exterior of the building, and a seamless message throughout.
