How kubik is Driving Sustainability Beyond Material Choices

While sustainable materials are crucial, the impact of trade shows and events goes far beyond just what they’re built from. We need to consider how aspects like transportation, travel, and waste management contribute to an event’s overall sustainability. When we think about the most important aspects of sustainability in the trade show industry, longevity is key. In such a fast-paced industry, waste can accumulate quickly, so finding ways to prevent materials and exhibit design elements from ending up in landfills is essential.

Diving Deeper into Sustainability at kubik

The most sustainable exhibit designs are those that can be repurposed again and again, preventing excess waste. Repurposing signage, furniture and displays and utilizing modular components and recyclable materials are some of the ways our clients incorporate sustainability into their trade show strategies.

At kubik, we look to assess the pre and post-event phase, ensuring that our strategic planning includes sustainability considerations. Our ability to create consistent modular displays that can be repurposed prevents unnecessary waste, while our post-event services, such as logistics planning, are designed to minimize environmental impact.

Read on for examples on how to expand the scope of sustainability beyond materials for trade show displays, and how overall strategies and logistics can contribute to a more sustainable industry.

Some Sustainable Trade Show Display Examples:

CDK Global at NADA

For the CDK Global exhibit, we focused on sustainability by utilizing rental structures and aluminum structures with stretch fabric graphics that can be repurposed across multiple events. These modular pieces are easy to alter depending on the space and layout of the tradeshow exhibit. Additionally, using these lighter, more transportable materials can help to save on fuel as well as trailer space.

Aluminum is an ideal material due to its ability to be repurposed or recycled, thus increasing longevity, and preventing landfill waste and environmental impact. This project is a prime example of how strategic material selection and exhibit design can promote sustainability over the long term.

Habitat for HP Projects

Our work with HP showcases our commitment to reusability and waste reduction. By employing modular pieces that can be reconfigured and reused across various designs, we keep the exhibits fresh and engaging while minimizing the need for new materials. The Habitat for HP initiative has been in place for many years, allowing for a streamlined trade show strategy that can be duplicated across events. This approach not only allows for brand consistency across all displays but also reduces costs and waste significantly.

Parker Hannifin Modular Displays

The custom rental program developed for Parker Hannifin further exemplifies our sustainable approach through the efficient use of modular display components. These components can be reused for years across a variety of events which prevents waste and results in cost savings over time. This method demonstrates that environmental responsibility can go hand in hand with financial and operational efficiency.
